About
Raised in Miami since 1955, I have great respect for the intensity of our hurricanes and resilience from the regrowth that follows. I began creating and sculpting following Hurricane Andrew in the early 1990’s. I initially purchased windstorm damaged wood from Fairchild Gardens. In subsequent years I have acquired beautiful pieces of fallen wood from all over Miami-Dade County. I have always been fascinated by the great sculptors of the past and present and am particularly influenced by the works of Charles Eams, Isamu Noguchi, and George Nakashima. Many of my pieces are created from what I feel the wood should become, it is often that the tree that guides me into what its final sculptural form. As a Chiropractic physician and former college baseball player, I have studied the human body and the essence of movement and capture them in my sculptures.
